Carol Johnson

“Sweet” Carol Ann Johnson, 73, of Beaufort, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport.

Carol devoted more than 30 years of her professional life to the banking industry in Beaufort. Throughout her career, she held positions at Wachovia Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, and First Citizens Bank. Her dedication and steady presence made her a familiar face to many in the community.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Crystal Coast Hospice House for their compassionate care and support during Carol’s final days.

A private service will be held in the summer at the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. She will be laid to rest in her home state of New York.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Johnson and his better-half Amy Vaughn, both of Beaufort; her brother, David Lawrence of Altamont, NY, his wife Pat and son Chad; and her cousins: Bernadette Remillard and Janet Conway.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Priscilla Lawrence and her brother, Ronald Lawrence.
