Carol Ann Jueden, age 88 of Hartington, Nebraska passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Accura Healthcare of Hartington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Will Targy officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Tuesday, at Church, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Pallbearers will be Jim Loecker, Andy Jueden, Travis Jueden, Braston Maibaum, Casper Jueden, and Cameron Jueden.  Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carol Ann was born on September 29, 1937 in Bloomfield, NE to Henry and Lucille (Thunker) Lowin. She grew up in the Bloomfield area and went to District 100 School and then attended St. Andrews school for one year. Carol Ann graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1955. Carol worked 2 ½ years at the Doctor’s office in Osmond. She married Robert Eugene Jueden on March 5, 1958 in Bloomfield. Carol helped Robert on the farm east of Hartington doing chores, milking cows, and raising their family. In 1983 Carol Ann began working at the Hartington nursing home. She received several employee awards during her 27 years at the Nursing Home – one being the Caring Kind Award as a nurse’s aide. She always made sure everyone was cared for from family to people she took care of. Carol Ann retired on December 8, 2010.

Carol Ann was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, and held an hour of adoration for many years. Carol Ann went to the Senior Center and played cards and also belonged to other card clubs. She loved the Cedar and Knox County Fair and was involved with it since she was a young girl – showing cattle during 4-H, and a member of the “Lucky Livewires”. She wore the bleachers out at Hartington Public School activities, watching her kids and grandchildren in multiple activities. Carol Ann loved finding treasures at the Holy Trinity Garage sales and other rummage sales. Her favorite store was Dollar General, often making many trips during the week, but always found a deal. She was a great cook and always had her famous banana bread ready for all of her family to enjoy. Most of all she endeared her faith, family and friends. Carol Ann loved Christmas time and gained the nickname of “Christmas Carol” by her family. She was loved by all her family and grandchildren. During the last year and a half, her room at the nursing home was often full of visitors.

Carol Ann is survived by her seven children and their spouses – Denise (Don) Loecker of Lincoln, Terry (Carmen) Jueden of Hartington, Roger (Tami) Jueden of Yankton, SD, Sheila (Dave) Loecker of Fordyce, Sharon Schaefer and fiancé Frank Scalise of Omaha, Mike (Lana) Jueden of Hartington, Laurie (Joe) Maibaum of Crofton; daughter-in-law Gerri (Pat) Feilmeier of Hartington; 25 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren with one on the way; brother Gary (Judy) Lowin of Bloomfield; sister-in-law Rose Jueden of Yankton, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry (Lucille) Lowin; husband Robert on 11/24/1993 at the age of 58 years; son Galen; infant daughter Diane, grandson Matthew Maibaum; brother Dennis Lowin; sister-in-law Phyllis Lowin, Brother -in-law Marvin Jueden, Sister-in-law Evelyn and her husband William Killam, Sister-in-law Norma Jean and her husband Glenn Loberg.
