Carol LaFleur Obituary

Carol Ann LaFleur of Weaverville, NC, formerly of Adams and Windsor, MA, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025. She was the daughter of Norbert Tanguay and Hildegard Kocher Tanguay.

Carol leaves behind her partner in life, Michael LaFleur. Carol and Mike met at sixteen and held each other's hearts from that moment on. As Mike likes to say, "They all said it would never last, we proved them wrong."

She is survived by her daughter, Laura LaFleur, "her favorite daughter," and Laura's husband, Stephen Wollentin. Carol was "Nana" to her beloved granddaughter, Aurelia Wollentin LaFleur, "her favorite granddaughter."

Carol leaves behind her sister and closest friend, Bridgitte Mendel, with whom she shared a rare and cherished bond. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Norma LaFleur and her partner Roger Brisette; her brother-in-law, AJ LaFleur, and his wife, Mary Colwell; and many nieces, nephews, and their children, all of whom she loved dearly.

Carol treasured her friends as deeply as family. She is survived by her dear friend, Carol Cromwell, and is preceded in death by her beloved friend, Lynn LaCasse.

Carol was a quiet person who didn't like to be in the spotlight, but she still loved a good time with friends and family; seeing art or performances; and fun adventures. She was endlessly generous and deeply caring; if you needed anything, Carol was there, offering help and unconditional love without hesitation.

A gifted artist, especially in the textile arts, Carol could sew, create, or mend anything. Her beautiful quilts and fabric works were crafted with remarkable skill, though she remained characteristically humble about her talents.

Carol dedicated more than 30 years to her role as Systems Manager in the laboratory at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA. She excelled at solving problems and played an essential role in keeping a complex operation running smoothly. During those years, she formed lasting friendships that continued, and even strengthened, through retirement for both her and Mike. To the Friday night crew, the beach vacation gang, and the Asheville brewery beer drinking buddies: you held a special place in Carol's heart.

In Carol's memory, we ask that you hug those close to you and share your love freely every day. Enjoy good company and make cherished memories-life is short, and you never know what tomorrow may bring, even if you met at sixteen.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held in Asheville on November 22nd, with a second gathering in the Berkshires this spring. All are welcome.

Dear Laura, I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I never had the pleasure of knowing her well, but based on how wonderful her daughter is, I'm sure she was a lovely and loving person.
Sincerely, your old Windsor neighbor, Deb Creer
