Carol Legg Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 9, 2025.
Carol Legg, 88 of Temecula, California, graduated to her heavenly home on Friday, September 26, 2025.

She was born on October 7, 1936, in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in South Boston as an only child. Carol worked first as a secretary at a clothing store where she met Merrill. In her California career, she flourished as a bookkeeper and assistant to the controller for 30 years, working at Ratner Clothing Company and later for Foster Investments in downtown San Diego. Carol married Merrill A. Legg on November 17, 1957, in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, and they were married for 55 years. In the spring of 1958, they drove across country to make their home in sunny San Diego, where they knew a few friends. They started their family the next year and raised their 3 children in San Diego. Carol was a faithful and devoted wife and incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, full of love, laughter, and quick wit. Her warmth and humor brightened every room, and her deep love for her family will always continue to guide us. Carol loved crossword puzzles and WWII movies and was affectionately crowned the "Queen of Scrabble", as it was rare that anyone could beat her score. She enjoyed ushering and watching many plays over the last 12 years, along with her son, Duane. She was especially fond of seeing plays at The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.

Carol was predeceased by her husband, Mel. She is survived by her son Dennis and his husband, Mike Stanphill, her daughter Deanna Banda and her husband, David, and son, Duane, and his wife Kimberly; grandsons, Brad and his wife, Ariel and their sons, Cole Robert, Dustin David and Ethan Andrew, Brandon and his husband Tebraie, and Blake; granddaughters Kaitlynn Marie, Faith Elizabeth and Isabella Grace Caroline; grandsons Frank Elijah, Andrew (AJ) Julien and Ezra James Charles.

Please contact the family at (760) 717-1215 for information regarding her celebration of life service in Temecula. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity-Temecula.
