Mass of Christian Burial for Carol Louwagie, 79, of Marshall, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the Remembrance Center. Interment will take place at St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley. A livestream and recording of the service will be available at www.holy-redeemer.com.
Carol Mary Louwagie was born on September 26, 1944, in Missouri. She was adopted by Frank and Marie Tholen and raised in Marshall, MN. She was baptized, received First Holy Communion and was confirmed at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1962 and attended school at the University of Minnesota for one year. On January 25, 1964, she was united in marriage to Donald Louwagie at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. The couple farmed and raised their family northeast of Marshall. Carol loved family, horses and music. She was a gifted vocalist and will be remembered for sharing her talents by singing in many weddings, funerals and local events and directing the St. Clotilde Church Choir for many years.
Carol died on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her residence in Marshall after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. She is survived by her children and grandchildren Terence; Richard (and Kim): Danica (and Jesse) Buss, Eli Louwagie and Brooke (and Wyatt) McBrayer; Bradley (and Meg): Nathanael, Maximillian (and Holly), and Noah (and Samantha); Nancy: Shane and Taylor; Bill (and Jen); Hunter, Gabriel and Jamison; Travis: Ashley and Brandon; Annie (and Mark) Adelmann: Ian, Caleb, Nora, Aiden, Maci and Maddox; several great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Grina, Leroy Sikorski, Rick Sikorski, Karen Drydahl, Rodney Sikorski, Rita Anderson, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald and brother Robert.
