Carol Luonne McGuire, 92, of Oquawka, Illinois, died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Marigold Health Care and Rehab, Galesburg, Illinois.
Carol was born February 11, 1934, in Deer River, Minnesota, the daughter of Roy Edward and Clara Evelyn (Larson) Tomberlin.
Carol is survived by two sons, Brad (Vickie) Gotaas and John (Marianne) Gotaas both of Oquawka; one daughter, Jackie (Ernest) Darnell of Oquawka; six grandchildren, Myndy, Josh, Casey, Brandon, Jeremy, and Leah; and several great grandchildren. Carol is also survived by her significant other of over 20 years, Albert Keever of Oquawka; one brother, Bill Tomberlin of Wisconsin; and one sister, Pat Bauman of Minnesota. Along with her parents, Carol was preceded in death by two sons, Randy in 1976 and Kerry in 1988; a grandson, Chris; three brothers, Bob, Duane, and Carl; and one sister, Diane.
Carol’s hobbies included crafting, sewing, and baking. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and was of the Christian faith.
Visitation for Carol will be 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Oquawka. Graveside services will follow the visitation at Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henderson County Health Department, 208 W. Elm St., Gladstone, IL 61437. Online expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
