Carol McPhail Obituary
June 4, 1932 – March 27, 2026
Carol June (Greer) McPhail was born June 4, 1932, in Carterville, IL to Hobart and Hazel (Taylor) Greer. She married James McPhail in 1950 and they moved to Mishawaka. She is survived by her two sons, James Steven (Margo) McPhail and Michael (Connie) McPhail; grandchildren, Ana (Matt) Turpin, Jacob McPhail and Keri (Paul) Tiebel; 15 great grandchildren; and her sister, Connie (Greer) Hensley. She is predeceased by her husband in 2020.
Carol attended Bethel College and IUSB getting her Master's degree in elementary education. She taught 3rd and 4th grade at Moran Elementary in Osceola. After retiring, she spent her time gardening, quilting and riding with Jim on his Gold Wing with the Elkhart chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. They rode to all of the lower 48 states and visited Australia with the Association. They also traveled to Europe.
She then went on to enjoy her retirement years with Jim and her grandchildren. Towards the end, she was well cared for by the kind staff at The Waters of Wakarusa and by Cherished Hospice of Fort Wayne. Carol had many friends and was well liked by those who knew her. She and Jim supported the Ronald McDonald House through the motorcycle club and the family requests any donations be made to Ronald McDonald House in lieu of flowers.
There will be a Remembrance of Life service at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, on Thursday, April 2, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

You have our sympathies on the death of your mom, Mike and Steve. Connie, you, too, losing a mother-in-law who's been in your life for 50 years. Carol (and Jim, too) certainly had full lives full of adventures. Peace to the families.
