In the gentle embrace of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Carol Ann Mitchell was welcomed into this world on December 3, 1940. Born to the proud hearts of William and Alice Bonta, she blossomed into a beacon of light that touched the lives of all who knew her.
With a spirit as beautiful as the blue skies she adored, Carol danced through life with grace and kindness, leaving a trail of love in her wake. A devoted mother, sister, wife, and friend, she painted the world with her presence, each stroke a testament to her generous soul.
Nature was her sanctuary, where she found solace in the whispering winds and the rustling leaves. Among the vibrant tapestry of flora and fauna, she reveled in the simple joys of life, cherishing every moment spent with her beloved family. Her children, Edwin and Leslie, were the pride of her heart, her sisters and nieces and nephews the threads that wove her life with love.
In the warm embrace of Major John M. Mitchell, her heart found its home. For forty years, their love flourished, until fate parted their hands in 2020. Yet, the echoes of their love lingered in the memories they shared, a bond unbroken even by the veil of death.
As the final curtain falls on this chapter of her journey, Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and light that will forever illuminate the hearts of those she touched. In her absence, she is lovingly remembered by her son Edwin (Carla) Hankla of Danville, KY, and her daughter Leslie Hankla of
Lexington, KY, as well as her stepdaughter Tammy Hargrave and grandchildren Alex Hargrave and Jordan (Chris) Giuliani.
Her spirit lives on in the tender care of her sister, Diane Fallis of Lexington, and her nieces and nephews Lloyd and Kie Fallis, Elizabeth (Buddy) Lewis, and their son, Zachary, all of Richmond, KY. Though she walks the path beyond, Carol is reunited with those who went before her: her beloved husband Major John M. Mitchell, her parents William and Alice Bonta, her sister and brother-in-law Billie Jo and Jerry Johnson, her niece Suzanne Johnson Hamm, and her great-niece Alyssa Hamm and great-nephew Ryan Lewis.
Let us gather under the canopy of memories stitched with love and sorrow, cherishing the radiant legacy of Carol Ann Mitchell. May her spirit soar high in the endless skies, a beacon of hope and love guiding us through the shadows of grief. Rest in peace, dear Carol, your light will forever sparkle in the heart of those who knew you.
