Milton/Edgerton, WI - Carol A. Murphy, age 79, passed away at Edgerton Care Center on August 4, 2025. She was born on July 30, 1946 in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Thomas and Elsie Murphy. She attended Milton Schools, graduating in 1964 and lived her entire life in the Milton/Edgerton area.
With a career spanning 50 years at Edgerton Hospital, Carol dedicated her life to caring for others as a CNA and ward clerk. Her calm presence, dependable nature, and deep compassion made her a trusted caregiver and a beloved colleague to all who worked alongside her. She also served with the Milton EMS for 8 years, always ready to help in times of need.
Family was very important to Carol. Whether it was a quiet visit or a large family gathering, she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. Though she never had children, she embraced her role as an aunt with extraordinary devotion, treating her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She made each one feel uniquely loved, even coming up with a silly nickname for each. True to her German and Irish roots, she was feisty, stubborn, and never afraid to speak her mind. Carol was a true lover of nature and spent countless hours tending to yard and flowers and feeding and watching the birds. She was also a passionate scrapbooker, carefully crafting numerous albums that documented her family's history.
Carol is survived by her siblings: Rick (Sandy) Murphy, Pat (Herb) Kunkel, Mike (Lucy) Murphy, Tim (Diane) Murphy, Ed (Patti) Murphy, and Maggie Murphy; her nieces and nephews: Larissa (Bill) Richards, Tammy (Todd) Krueger, Kim Kunkel, Kari Kunkel, Phil (Renee) Murphy, Steve (Katie) Murphy, Mike (Kaylyn Spoon) Murphy, Tom (Nicole) Murphy, Jodi (Dusty) Sersch, Casey (Joseph) Stubbs, Chad (Erika) Murphy, Kyle (Brian Warson) Larsen, and Carl Larsen; 17 great-nieces and nephews; and 3 great-great-nieces and nephews.
