In Loving Memory of Carol Nicholson
Carol Leaver Nicholson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, stepped into eternity peacefully on April 27th, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 25th, 1944, in Bromley, Kent, England, Carol brought joy and warmth to all who knew her.
Carol was the cherished daughter of Ken and Joan Leaver. In 1963, she embarked on a journey of love and adventure when she met her beloved husband, David "Nick" Nicholson, in England. Together, they forged a bond that spanned decades and continents, leaving Carol’s homeland to begin a new chapter of their lives.
In 1987, Carol proudly became a citizen of the United States, a country she embraced as her own. Throughout her life, Carol's adventurous spirit led her to explore the world, but her heart remained steadfastly devoted to her family and her passions.
Among her many loves were her animals, especially her beloved horses, who brought her immense joy and companionship. Carol's compassion for animals extended beyond her own pets, as she played an instrumental role in the founding of an animal shelter in Alabama, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
A devoted mother to Paul Nicholson and Susan Barnes, Carol poured her boundless love and wisdom into her children. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she relocated to Kansas to be closer to them, cherishing every moment spent in their company.
An extrovert by nature, Carol's vibrant personality brightened the lives of all who knew her. Her faith as a Christian guided her through life's joys and challenges.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held on May 7th, 10:30am, at the First Christian Church of Sedgwick. Carol is preceded in death by her loving husband, David “Nick” Nicholson, and her parents, Ken and Joan Leaver. She is survived by her children, Susan (James) Barnes, and Paul (Angie) Nicholson; sister, Wendy (Mike) Tetlow; grandchildren, Brooke (Cale) Hager, Bekah (Judah) Graham, Faith Nicholson, Laurel (Conner) Peterson, and Tyler Barnes; and great grandchildren, Cameron, Charlotte, Adelaide, Eloise, and Everleigh. Share condolences and view tribute video at www.cozine.com. Memorial donations may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society in Newton, Kansas, in honor of Carol's passion for animals.
