Carol Nelson Norred, 79, of Athens passed away on July 24, 2025. Born on July 13, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Nelson and Daisy Bone Nelson.
Carol was a long-time member of Tuckston United Methodist Church. She had a true green thumb and loved gardening. Carol was loving, caring and selflessly devoted to caring for those in need. She loved her dog, Jackson, and dedicated all her spare time to her grandchildren who she loved dearly. She enjoyed being outdoors, playing tennis and playing the hand bells with the choir at Tuckston United Methodist Church. Carol retired from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine as a lab technician.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William P. Norred; daughter, Leigh Norred Pope.
Survivors include her daughter Amy Norred (Jack) Lefebvre, her son Richard Norred; grandchildren, Joshua, Haley, Andrew, Charlotte, and Ada; brother, Clifford Nelson (Kay); son in law, David Pope.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 2nd at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home East Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at Tuckston United Methodist Church with Interment to follow at the church cemetery.
