Carol K. Piechnik, age 80, of Michigan City, IN, passed away surrounded by her devoted family on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

She was born in Hartington, Nebraska on August 10, 1945 to John and Rosella (Beckman) Albrecht who have preceded her in death.

Carol is survived by her children, James (Jennifer) Buchanan of Michigan City, Kimberly (Mike) Novitske of Michigan City, DeAnna (Arturo) Munoz of Michigan City, and Mandi (Scott) Twining of Traverse City, MI; her grandchildren, Heaven (David) Taylor, James Weinig, Nicole Twining, Haley Buchanan, Gavin Buchanan, Alex Munoz, Emilio "Mio" Munoz and Camden Hernandez, Stacey (Tim) Floyd; her great-grandchildren, Destiny, David, Kyleigh, Ari, Braxton, Colten, Elliot, Grace, Atticus, and Melody.

She is preceded in death also by her husband, Ronald E. Piechnik; her brother, Leroy (LaVerna) Albrecht, her sister, Shirley (Gerald) Tenney, and young sister, Marcella Albrecht.

Carol was a proud and active member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2536, American Legion Auxiliary Post 37, and DAV Auxiliary 023. She devoted many years supporting veterans and their families and also served as the manager at the VFW, where she was a familiar and welcoming face to many. She enjoyed an active social life and many hobbies. Carol was honored as a member of the Women's Bowling Hall of Fame and spent many years participating in a weekly golf league, where she cherished the time spent with friends. She also enjoyed playing bingo, working on puzzles, and was especially talented at crocheting, often creating beautiful handmade pieces for family and friends.

Carol leaves behind a legacy of friendship, service, and community involvement. She was deeply connected to the organizations and people around her and will be remembered for her warm spirit and dedication to those she served.

Friends may visit with the family at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN 46360 on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 pm.
