Ronald "Pops" E. Piechnik, age 79, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022.
He was born on March 14, 1943, in Michigan City to Frank and Angeline (Schilla) Piechnik, who preceded him in death.
Ronald married the love of his life, Carol K. (Albrecht) Piechnik, who survives him, after almost 40 years, in Michigan City.
Ronald is also survived by his children, Margaret (Darren) Franckowski, James (Jennifer) Buchanan, Kimberly (Michael) Novitske, DeAnna (Arturo) Munoz and Mandi (Scott) Twining; grandchildren, Heaven (David) Taylor, James Weinig, Nicole Twining, Haley Buchanan, Gavin Buchanan, Alex Munoz, Emilio "Mio" Munoz and Camden "Shorty" Hernandez; great grandchildren, David, Destiny, Colten, Kyleigh, Arielle, Braxton "Bo," Elliot and Grace; sister, Kathryn (John) Douglas; brothers, Robert (Sharon) Piechnik and David (Margaret) Piechnik; sister-in-law, Maude Baron; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his step-father: Stephen Baron; daughters: Michelle and Maureen Meer; and brother: Stephen Baron.
Ronald was a U.S. Veteran for the Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post 37, DAV 23 and the 40 & 8ers. He worked for 10 years at the Monon Railroad and then retired after 17 years of service at the South Shore Railroad. After retirement, Ronald also worked for 10 years at the Diamond Detection.
Arrangements were entrusted with Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN, 46360.
