Carol Presnal

Carol Presnal, age 91, of South River, peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, February 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving children.

Born and raised in New Brunswick to the late Earl and Helen Forsythe, Carol relocated to South River over 63 years ago, where she has resided ever since. Carol was a proud homemaker while her children were young and decided to return to the workforce later in life. She worked with Karsay Food Distribution as an office manager, as well as with Hilltop Research in East Brunswick and Lenox.

Carol had many interests throughout her life. She and her husband were world travelers, having visited more than 40 countries. She also enjoyed tennis as league member of the YMCA in Parlin, crochet, and the beach. Her true passion was cooking for her family and friends, making dishes from scratch for many dinner parties and family gatherings. It was always done to perfection, otherwise she would "show you how to do it right". Carol will be missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her.

Carol is preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond Presnal and by her parents.

Surviving are her loving children and their spouses Lorraine and Gino Ongaro of South Amboy, Gregory and Melinda Presnal of Tenafly, and Eric Presnal of South River; her dear grandchildren Nicholas Ongaro of South Amboy, Andrew Presnal and his wife Celeste of Verona, NJ, Hugh Presnal, and Bridget Presnal, both of SC; her great-granddaughter Ada; her cousin Joan Karsay; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, February 21 from 9am to 10:30am at M.A. Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River.

Catholic Mass will immediately follow at 11am on Saturday at Corpus Christi RC Church in South River with burial at Holy Cross Burial Park in South Brunswick.
