CAROL ANN PURCELL, 66, of Wallace, NE, passed away at home on March 6, 2024.
Carol was born August 16, 1957, in Stockton, California, to Kenneth and Mary Ann (Strohm) Olson. She graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, California.
On August 22, 1982, Carol married Robert "Bob" Purcell in a ceremony held in her parents' backyard. The two had met in Penn Valley, CA, near where Bob's family had resided after his family had retired from the Air Force. The couple made their home in Anchorage for a few years before moving back to Chico, where Carol worked as a hairdresser and in medical billing until her health began to decline. They resided in California for most of their married lives before moving to Wallace in February of 2020.
Carol was a woman of great faith and love. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially cats, birds, and dogs, but she also made some room for chickens. She was a lover of music, especially the Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Carol loved the Lord and enjoyed holding a Bible study group for military wives. Her relationship with Bob was a beautiful love story that was a precious part of their lives. Together, their faith was nourished at the Wallace Community Church, which became an extension of their family.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth B. and Mary Ann Olson, brother, Don Olson, an aunt, Martha Strohm and three nephews and a niece.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Purcell, of Wallace; niece, Joy Williams, of Wallace NE, niece and nephews, Kyle Beck, Chase Zwicker and Hailey Zwicker of Wallace NE, niece, Linda Sue Williams and her children of Nampa ID, a brother, Ken (Barbara) Olson of Susanville, CA, nephew, Daniel, a sister, Sheri (David) Atkinson of Roseville, CA, two nieces, Ashley Lucia and Cassidy Etcheverry, nephew, John (Alta) Olson and family, and many other relatives and friends.
