Carol L. Rackham age 88, of Belding, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022 at home surrounded by her family and the care of Grace Hospice. She was born September 15, 1933 in Idaho Falls, the daughter of Emil LeRoy & Verla May (Clay) Johnson. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Greenville. She was a strong independent lady who was supporting herself at the age of 13, then started her family young in her life at 17. Two times she was the main financial support, while Milton was recovering from major neck injuries. She had worked 25 years at Gibson’s in Greenville. She relished outdoor activities from camping, fishing, to four wheeling in the mountains and sharing stories around the campfire. She was an avid bowler who participated in local bowling leagues. She enjoyed crafts, from crocheting afghans, to making wedding dresses from scratch for her daughters and granddaughters. She loved children as they became foster parents and took many more into the family, who still rightfully claim her as their mom. She cherished to dance, having owned a dance hall in Idaho, also learning square dancing and performing in many local parades. Carol is survived by her husband Milton of 72 years; children Nan (Jim) Pendergast of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Glenda – Deceased (Garth) Persson, Rodney (Cynthia) Rackham of Belding, Roxanne (Chris) Wilson of American Fork, Utah, Lucinda (Mark) Goodwin of Milford, Ohio, Kevin (Karen) Rackham of St. Louis, Missouri and Aaron (Denise) Rackham of Greenville; 32 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; five sisters Violet Gardner of Lewisville, Idaho, Darla Cunningham of Pocatello, Idaho, Tina (Gary) Simpson of Othello, Washington, Rhonda (Chris) Nelson of Idaho Falls, Idaho and LaVerta Costello of Alvarado, Texas and her two brothers Randy (Charlene) Johnson of Lewisville, Idaho and Merrit (Charlotte) Johnson of Othello, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Glenda Persson, son in law Tim Harris, five siblings Ore (Sarah) Johnson, Lilas (Walt), Hunter, Richard (Wanda – Living) Johnson, Terry (Marlena – Living) Johnson and Gaye (James), Beard. Funeral Services will be August 27, 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation will be August 26, at 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Marshall Funeral Home and from 1 hour till the services at the church. Burial will be in Otisco Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Carols name to Grace Hospice.
