Died: October 31, 2024 in Sterling, IL
Carol A. Ranken, age 78 of Sterling, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024 at her home. She was born on Feb. 11, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of William and Florence (Stanley) Blum. Carol worked for Klein's Dept. Store in Dixon, owned and operated Bakers Express, and Ranken's Rocking Horse Ranch with her husband. In retirement, she also worked at Walmart for a few years. Carol was a member of the Elks Club. She married Richard Ranken on Oct. 15, 1966 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband on June 25, 2007. Carol is also preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Paul LaFever and stepmother Thelma Blum.
She is survived by her children, Melissa (Albert) Kinser of Milledgeville, Melinda Segretto of Sterling;six grandchildren Kathleen Miller of Millidgeville, Danielle (Johnny Scaggs) Kinser of Dekalb, Richard (Maddie) Kinser of Dekalb, Joshua (Becky Barron) Segretto of St. Louis, Sydney (Athan McCloud) Segretto of Tampico, Elliot Kinser of Milledgeville; four great-grandchildren, Mariah Miller, Athan McCloud Jr. Archie Segretto, Olivia McCloud, and her half sister Brenda (Joe) Breit of Washington.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Graveside services will follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling. Arrangements by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Condolences can be left at www.thejonesfh.com.
