Carol Roach Obituary

Carol Roach

August 11, 1940 - February 24, 2025

Carol J. Roach, 84, of Waterville, Ohio, passed away on February 24, surrounded by her loving children. As her family prayed for her release from pain and safe passage into Jesus's arms, she took her final breath in a moment of profound beauty and peace.

Carol was born to Ralph and Fannie (Bucher) Knapp on Eber Road in Whitehouse, Ohio, and remained a lifelong member of the Anthony Wayne community. A proud General, she marched in the band, was a majorette and a cheerleader, and even in her later years, she could be found twirling her baton through the halls of Browning Masonic Community. A passionate supporter of AW sports, she continued attending live events as recently as the fall of 2024.

She was a devoted mother to Michael (Lori) Roach and Susan (Michael) Degens, and a cherished grandmother to Ashley, Jennifer (Jordan), Isaac, and Haley. She nurtured a close-knit family, ensuring her children grew up alongside their first cousins, celebrating every holiday and birthday together. She deeply loved her nieces and nephews, Erik (Darlene) Knapp, Michelle (Jeremy) Thomas, and Chris (Lindsey) Knapp, along with many great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving sisters-in-law, Jo Knapp and Grace Knapp, who remained dear to her throughout her life. Her love extended even to her beloved fur grandkids, Pepper, Cosmo, and Spud.

Carol dedicated her life to caring for others, both personally and professionally. A proud and compassionate nurse, she earned her degree from the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing, forging lifelong friendships along the way. Her distinguished career as an RN spanned decades, culminating in her retirement from St. Luke's Hospital in 2003. She took immense pride in her work, and her legacy is honored with her photograph displayed at the Toledo Hospital's main entry. Beyond her dedication to family and nursing, Carol was an active community member, and a lifelong and devoted member of Hope United Methodist Church; she poured her heart into her church community, serving with unwavering dedication.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Fannie (Bucher) Knapp; her brothers, Ralph and Richard Knapp; and her grandson, Wade Degens.

Her family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers at Browning Masonic Community, the Elizabeth Scott Community, and Heartland Hospice, who went above and beyond to provide the most loving and devoted care. Their kindness and dedication made her daily struggles with dementia more manageable and brought comfort to both Carol and her family.

A funeral service will be held on March 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Hope United Methodist Church, 10610 Waterville St., Whitehouse, Ohio. Pastor Warren Clifton will officiate. Family and friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at the church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, Whitehouse, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol's honor to Hope United Methodist Church in Whitehouse or the Alzheimer's Association NW Ohio Chapter.
