Carol Rose Obituary

CAROL ANN ROSE
November 2, 1943 ˜ January 9,
2026

Carol was born November 2, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA to Edward A. Brown and Evaline L (Karst) Brown while her dad was at Guadalcanal. She learned to say “Daddy” to his photo. She lived with her mother near her grandparents in Aberdeen, WA while her dad was in WWII and grew up in Aberdeen/Hoquiam area.

After two years of college, she married Jerry E. Brower and Carol helped put him through college. They had two children. They moved to Vancouver WA in 1970. After their divorce, she met and married Joel Rose. As the years passed, she felt she had won the lottery of life to have Joel for her husband, and would like to thank his previous two wives for leaving this great guy for her to find. They met while Joel worked for Pacific Northwest Bell and Carol worked for Vantel Credit Union.

With Joel’s encouragement, Carol completed her B.S. degree at Portland State University and her MBA at University of Portland. She retired from Merrill Lynch in 2001, and they enjoyed hiking, biking gardening and traveling. They took each their six grandchildren on six trips each, mostly thru Road Scholar trips. Many different states were visited as well as Canada and Bermuda and St. Croix. Carol took the greatest pleasure in showing her grandkids different places and new activities.

Carol was predeceased by her mother and dad and her stepson, Greg Rose. She is survived by her husband, Joel, her daughter Kellie Mendenhall(Eddie) and grandkids, Zackary Kruger, Joelle Charron, Madison Brower, Angelina Brower, Conner Brower and Kyle Brower. She also had a brother, Kenn Brown, a son, Jerry Brower Jr, and a sister, Shari Hatley.

This note was found in her will packet: “A hundred years from now, it will not matter the sort of house I lived in, what my bank account was or the kind of car I drove, but the world maybe different because I was important in the life of a child.” Anonymous

Yesterday

Carol was a part of our family life through her work with Merrill for many years. She was an ardent supporter of her children and grandchildren. Her interest in exploring and sharing that with her grandchildren was inspiring. We're sorry for her family and friends.
