Carol I. Scheufler, 95, passed away at Azria Woodhaven in Great Bend, KS on December 23, 2024. Born on December 21, 1929 in Ellinwood, KS she was the daughter of Carl H. Schmidt & Alice B Hoadley Schmidt. A Lifetime Ellinwood resident Carol worked as a Bookkeeper at Barton Co. Extension Service in Great Bend and later for Ellinwood Coop and Evansco, Inc. She married Gene C. Scheufler on May 8, 1953. He passed away Sept. 14, 2001. Memberships included Ellinwood United Methodist Church where she served on the Memorial committee and Admin Council and for the United Methodist Women she served as President, Secretary, and Historian. Carol was also a member of Ellinwood Historical Society, Bt. Co. Genealogical Society, and 4H Club Leader of Lakin Go-Getters.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Nancy Jenisch, Linda (Dennis) Siefkes, Nancy Riemann, Jerry (Joan) Riemann, Melvin Riemann and several Great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband; sisters, Maxine L. Riemann, LaThayne Schmidt, Elenora Schmidt, Anita Holden, Edna Jenisch; and brother, Gerald Schmidt and nephew Jim Riemann and Bob Jenisch.
Funeral service will take place at Ellinwood Community Church Mon., Dec. 30 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Samuel Ryan officiating. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to Ellinwood School/Library Foundation or Ellinwood Hospital Foundation in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
