Carol Simms Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wright Funeral Home and Crematory - Franklin on Dec. 28, 2025.
Franklin - Carol Parham Simms, 75, passed away December 25, 2025 in Greenville, NC, holding her husband's hand as she stepped into the arms of Jesus. She was born in Franklin on October 17, 1950 and grew up in Capron. She was the youngest child of the late Robert Lee and Catherine Paynter Parham. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert L. "Bobby" Parham.

Carol graduated from Southampton High School in the class of 1969. She worked in several areas of Southampton Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2012. She was an active member of Sedley Women's Club. After retiring, she pursued several different interests, especially as a part of the local YMCA. She was an avid participant in the Stretch and Bend Exercise class, several pickle ball groups, and the morning coffee/exercise group. She gained many, many friends and enjoyed the relationships that grew out of that association.

Her favorite and most meaningful activities centered around the Sedley Baptist Church. She participated in many, varied committees and was an eager volunteer whenever she saw an opportunity to help. She loved the church family and enjoyed being with them as much as possible. She was a loyal Christian believer, not only through words but through deeds.

Family was the sunshine of Carol's life, and she especially doted on those who knew her as "Ma." Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, Marvin Edward Simms; a daughter, Amy Woolard (Lonnie); three grandchildren, Alexandria (James), Nicholas and Logan (Elisa), three great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Kinzley, and Preslee, and four sisters, Marjorie P. Garrison, Phyllis P. Futrell (Robert), Dorothy P. Bunting (Mike Silva) and Peggy P. Morgan; and a brother, Richard L. Parham, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Foreman officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. Memorial donations may be made to Sedley Baptist Church.
