Carol R Smith, age 77, of Bentley Creek, PA passed away on January 2, 2026 as a result of a brain mass.
She graduated from Elmira Business Institute and retired from a career as a PA Unemployment Claims Examiner. She later worked for DuPont in Towanda, PA.
Carol is survived by two beloved sons, Glen (Lynne) Smith of Towanda, PA and Doug Smith of Bentley Creek, PA; a daughter, Julie (Todd) Barrett of Granville Summit, PA; three grandchildren, Nichole (Tony) Ellis of Elmira, NY, Dylan Smith of Canton, PA, and Zachary Smith of Elmira, NY; and six great-grandchildren, Mac (Wren) Lucibello, Richae, Camille, and Ryland Ellis, all of Elmira, NY, Vanessa Smith of Col X Rds, PA, and Aidyn Smith of Granville Summit, PA.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by a son, Barry Smith; two grandsons, Mitchel Smith and Richard King; and an infant great-grandson, Kayden King.
Carol enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading mystery novels, watching wildlife from her porch, shopping for deals, and volunteering at the library.
Services will be at the convenience of the family, with interment at the Bentley Creek Cemetery. Donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the Steele Memorial Library, 101 E. Church St, Elmira, NY 14901.
