Carol Stahl
MELROSE – Carol (Rakes) Stahl, 74, of Melrose, passed away at 5:12 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born August 2, 1951, in Missouri to the late Bethel "Gene" and Johnny Wilma (Cassidy) Rakes.
Carol is survived by two children: David (Niki) Stahl of Grover Hill and Michael (Tracey) Stahl of Auburn, IN.; four grandchildren: Jennifer Stahl, Bridget (Josh) Hastings, Shelby Stahl and Tyler Stahl; two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Hudson Hastings; and a sister: Pamela (Darwin) Sherry of Ft. Payne, AL.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Stahl; a grandson, Austin Trisch; a brother, Gene Rakes; and a sister, Janet Rakes.
Carol worked as a nurse's aide at Twin Rivers. She attended Nazarene Church, Defiance. Carol was very loving, and she would give you her last dollar. She was strong and loved her independence. Carol enjoyed playing games like Phase Ten and Rummikub. She enjoyed going shopping with Jennifer and talking on the phone.
Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Rev. Carol Retcher officiating. Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.
