In Loving Memory: Carol Ann (Speir) Strait

Carol Ann Strait, passed away peacefully in Eugene, Oregon on February 3, 2026, at the age of 87. Her deep faith in God brought her much comfort, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and love.

Carol was born on May 21,1938 in Los Angeles to Richard "Redtune" Elva and Celestial Irene (Williams) Speir. She showed remarkable resilience following the death of her father at the early age of five. Carol had two older siblings, Richard Speir and Ella Noreen (Speir) Colson.

On May 16, 1958, she married the love of her life, Jerrell V. Strait and together embarked on a lifelong marriage of 66 years until his death in 2024.

In 1979, they moved from the busy landscape of Southern California to seek the beauty and tranquility of Oregon. During the mid-1990's, Carol went to college, got her Associate Arts degree, and became a certified drug and alcohol counselor.

They had three children: Mark, Jerri-lyn, Stacie and three grandchildren: Parker, Graham, and Garrett. Carol was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially the grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Celestial Speir, her siblings, Richard Speir, Ella Noreen Colson, and her beloved husband, Jerrell V. Strait.

She is survived by her son Mark, daughter Jerrilyn and husband Paul, daughter Stacie; three grandchildren; Parker and wife Joryn, Graham, and Garrett.

Her strength was her most powerful attribute and her dedication to those she loved remains her greatest gifts. Her warm smile and laughter touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her and her love will always be a part of us.

A funeral service followed by a graveside committal will be held on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 4810 Willamette St, Eugene, OR 97405.
