Carol Taake Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Jul. 25, 2024.
Carol Ann Taake, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on
July 23, 2024. Carol was born August 28, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George LeGrande and
Grace Nerdin Clark.
Carol married her sweetheart, Ronald Richard Taake and was sealed in the Oakland, California
LDS Temple for time and all eternity. Together they raised four children. Carol had an extremely
generous heart and was willing to help others in need. She was known for not only helping
monetarily, but she also served those around her often, including caring for grandchildren well
into her 80s! She was active and not much seemed to slow her down. She was always on the
move (and literally moved a lot, owning multiple homes over the years). Whether it was working,
caring for family or chasing the best sales at Dillards, Kohls or even ZCMI back in the day.
Sometimes she would just show up and provide you with something you didn't know you
needed, because it was just too good of a deal to pass up.
When Carol was working as a buyer of cosmetics and jewelry for Rexall Drug in Sacramento,
CA she met Ron. He came in when he had a bad cold. After meeting her only once knew he
needed to come back to get to know her more and the rest is history.
Carol was a hard worker and had a work ethic that was hard to keep up with. At a time when
women were expected to manage households and not businesses, she blazed a trail that has
passed down generations to her posterity of strong women. As the owner, alongside her
husband Ron, of a KFC franchise in Clearfield, UT she used her business as a training ground
for disadvantaged youth. She also served in her community as vice chairperson of the Davis
County Private Industry Council and as the chairperson of the council's Special Education
Committee. She successfully oversaw Council's Hire One program which places disadvantaged
youth in private sector jobs. She also worked with employers in implementing the Council's
Tryout Employment Program which helped high school dropouts. Her love for her work showed
in the numerous recognition she received during the almost 30 years with KFC. Even in
"retirement" she stayed busy by working at Joanie's Restaurant and Costco.
Carol also served as a Relief Society President and in other callings for the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a testimony of the gospel. She loved the scriptures and
was very involved in genealogy.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters Louise Mallet, Florence
Crandall, and Colleen Brown, and brother Jack Clark and son in law, Bill Ray (Jeanine) and
grandson Justin and great grandson Carter. Carol is survived by her Children; Kathryn D.
Nicholls, Clearfield, UT, James R. Taake, Redondo Beach, CA, Jeanine R. (James) Ray-Koch,
Layton, UT, Janette L. Love-Barnett, Layton, UT. Survived by her wonderful grandchildren;
Teresa, Matthew, Alicia, Cody, Ryan, Carissa, Janessa, Caiden, Tyler, Mikell, Austin, James,
Baylee, Dee, Bryson, Noni and 13 great grandchildren! She is also survived by sister, Joanie
Putnam, and brothers Robert Clark and William Clark.
Family graveside funeral Monday, July 29th 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Bountiful City Cemetery,
2224 S. 200 W. Bountiful, Utah 84010.
