Carol Delynn Uehlin, age 57, of Gravois Mills, Mo., passed away, Monday, September 15, 2025, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born on August 29, 1968, in Houston, Tex., the daughter of Melvyn Hugh and Nancy Ann Agnes (Campbell) Newham.

Carol graduated from Chillicothe High School and later began working in the deli department at Woods Supermarket. She remained a dedicated and loyal employee until illness made it impossible for her to continue.

Carol had a warm, gentle spirit and a heart full of love-especially for her beloved cats and dogs, who were never far from her side. She found comfort and joy in the simple things, whether it was settling in to watch her favorite shows like Little House on the Prairie, Blue Bloods, or a good crime drama, or spending quiet moments working on word puzzles. Growing up alongside her brothers, Carol was a bit of a tomboy, always up for adventure and especially fond of fishing at Grand Lake in Oklahoma-memories she treasured. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, shaping the kind, friendly, and genuine person everyone knew and loved. Carol had a way of making others feel seen and welcomed, and her presence brought warmth wherever she went.

She is survived by: her mother, Nancy Newham; step-father, David Matthews; brothers, Steve Newham (Linh Duong) of Jefferson City, Mo., David Matthews (Amy Ferguson) of Gravois Mills, Mo., and James Matthews of Oklahoma City, Ok.; nieces and nephews, Ashley Matthews, Jamiz Matthews, Evan Matthews, Jordan Newham, and Lindsey Duong; great-niece and nephews, Ariel, Ian and Alkani; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her father, Melvyn Newham; her uncle, David Newham; and her grandmother, Alice Newham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Friends of the Jefferson City Animal Shelter, 2308 Hyde Park Road, Jefferson City, Mo., 65101.

Services for Carol will be held privately.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary.
