Carol VanDee Obituary

Carol J. VanDee, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday October 10, 2024, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. She was born April 2, 1932, in Boone, Iowa to Ruth and Fred Dede. Carol was married to George VanDee on June 12, 1955, at the Christian Church, Iowa City, Iowa. They spent 69 years together. Survivors include daughter, Paula (Tom) Stacey, daughter, Sherry Collingwood, son, Kevin (Jean) VanDee, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, George, son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Penny VanDee, son-in-law, Lyle Collingwood, sister Marilyn Larson and brother, Don Dede. Carol was a lifelong member of Moose Lodge-304 and she enjoyed her Red Hats Club, Homemakers Club, Bingo and Friday breakfast dates with her friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday October 13, 2024, from 3-6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services: 2:00 p.m. Monday October 14, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House staff for their excellent care, compassion & support to mom and our family.
