Carol Sue Vieceli
September 1, 1934 – August 9, 2025
Our beloved Carol Sue Vieceli (nee Sutherland), age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of August 9th, at Sea Cliff Healthcare Center in
Huntington Beach, CA. Carol was born in Topeka, Kansas to Carl and Florance (nee Dugger) Sutherland. In 1952, she graduated from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Following high school she attended the Art Institute of Chicago as well as Augustana Nursing School and Northwestern University Business School. She found her career niche as an executive office manager in a variety of industries including electronics, aerospace, defense, and entertainment in southern California.
Carol was a loving daughter, sister, wife, cousin, aunt, and friend, with a welcoming heart, encouraging spirit and brilliant smile. Carol married her husband Angelo Vieceli in 1959 and together they created a wonderful life in the Newhall area until his death in 1990. A longtime resident of the Friendly Valley community, she was an active member of the Friendly Valley Community Church until declining health prevented her from attending services in 2020.
Carol (affectionately called Aunt Susie by her nieces and nephews) was an avid reader, sharing nook and kindle books (enough for a library!) with her sister Beverly of Huntington Beach. It's hard to describe a person who was so multi-talented, intelligent, artsy, kind, loving, witty, musical, and loved to travel – think planes, trains, automobiles, and cruises. She lived a very full and special life.
Carol Sue is survived by her sister Beverly Pearson; her nieces and nephews, Karen McKinley, Brian McKinley, Greg (Carlos) McKinley, Scott (Barbara) Brown, Michelle (Bob) Garcia, and Susan (John) Bell; ten great nieces and nephews and their families; and beloved lifetime friend Lee Lang of Peoria, Illinois.
Carol will be privately interred alongside her husband at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall. The family requests that any donations in memory of Carol be made to the charity of your choosing.
