Carol Wilde Obituary

Carol Anne Wilde passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 20, 2022, just shy of her 80th birthday, in St. George, Utah. Anne was born on June 18, 1942, to Don and Ethel Taylor of Croydon, Utah. She married Glenn Richard Wilde on March 30, 1963, in Henefer, Utah and devoted the next 59 years providing safety and a legacy of love to her family.

Anne grew up in Henefer, Utah, attended North Summit High School, and made lifelong friends. After graduation in 1960, she enrolled at Weber State College earning an Associate of Arts degree two years later. In Fall 1965, Anne, Glenn and two children moved from their home in Coalville, Utah to Logan, Utah, a place they would call their Cache Valley home for 32 years. Glenn was in graduate school, and later became a member of the faculty and an administrator for Utah State University. Anne created a stable environment for her children and developed special lifelong friendships. In 1976, she was secretary and administrative assistant in the College of Family Life, assisting the family to purchase a home and support for education for her children. She retired in 1998 to join Glenn in Moscow, Idaho who had accepted an administrative appointment at the University of Idaho. Anne took great pride in the next generation of the family for their achievements in law, science, business, and engineering.

An avid lifelong student of history and culture, Anne developed a passion for writing family history and utilized her passion to document her history in journals, many stories family may be afraid to read. She tirelessly worked on family genealogies and used her extensive history background to research, collect and write the histories of her ancestors and her family. She had a rare photo collection of family and places, extending back to early settlements. Anne continued her education at Utah State University, enrolling in history and folklore courses, participating in the Western Writer's Conferences, and the Fife Folklore program, where some of her academic papers are in the University Library. She also hosted nationally known writers, historians, and folklorists in support of programs at Utah State University. Anne excelled in these efforts, but her commitment to supporting her family and her husband remained her priority.

Throughout life, Anne provided kindness and friendship to her family, friends and even strangers who came into her life. Her core beliefs that every day was a blessing, that taking care of your family a priority, and being kind to all were shared with everyone through her actions. As a mother, she will be missed but never forgotten as the family continues share her legacy of love. In 2005, Anne and Glenn retired to St. George, Utah. They enjoyed the warmth and the community developing great relationships with their neighbors in Bloomington. Their home was always welcome to friends and family for short getaways or a visit as friends or family passed through the Colorful Utah Southlands.

Anne is survived by her husband Glenn, daughter Laurie (Scott) Zollinger, sons Michael (Traci) Wilde, Jeff (Keri) Wilde, and Richard (Amy) Wilde, sister Jeanne Comer, brothers Robert (Margaret) Taylor and James (Penny) Taylor, 14 wonderful grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Anne was preceded in death by her father (Don), mother (Ethel), and brother (Mark).

The family expresses special gratitude to staff of Spring Gardens Assisted Living who allowed Anne to live a semi-independent life with her husband. And, special thanks for Geertrui "Gerry" Ulyeman, for the friendship, assistance and love demonstrated through Anne's many illnesses for many years,

A graveside memorial service is being planned by family to celebrate her birthday in June.

I will always remember the wonderful times we had when I was young and my family would get together with your family. You always made my sleepovers with Laurie so much fun. I am going to dearly miss you. Say hi to my dad for me, please.
