Carol Frances Wolfe, 90, of Freeport, IL, passed away Friday January 23, 2026 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born September 19, 1935 in Polo, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Edna (Honberger) Lang.
Carol married Gene Wolfe on July 21, 1956 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Polo, IL; Gene passed away May 17, 2025. She was a nurse at Freeport Memorial Hospital, and also at The Rockford Clinic before retirement. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and decorating for every holiday.
Carol is survived by her son Bradley (Amelia) Wolfe of Downers Grove, IL; daughter Susan (Rodney) Rowland of Freeport, IL; three grandchildren Ryan (Jo Dee) Nicosia, Amy Lawson, and Simon Wolfe; six great-grandchildren Brianna, Natalie, Bella, Brittany, Madison, and Ann; great-great-grandson Liam; sister Beth Rodermel of Beloit, WI; brother-in-law Richard (Sharon) Wolfe of Two Harbors, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and three brothers.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday February 7, 2026 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL, with Rev. Shellie Knight officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for FHN Hospice.
