Carol A. Yokeum, 68, of Rapid City, MI gained her angel wings on July 10th, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Carol was Native American from The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. She took great pride in sharing her native language and was not afraid of sharing that native language if you crossed her or her family. In fact, she found great humor in doing so. Carol's hobbies included collecting books and movies, doing word searches, and playing games on her phone. Carol was a true animal lover, and always enjoyed feeding/watching the chipmunks and hummingbirds. Carol was a true jokester and absolutely loved telling jokes to bring smiles and laughter to those around her, especially in the most difficult of times. Carol was an upbeat person, who never let anything get her down. Carol was born April 16th, 1955 in Frankfort, MI, to the late Thomas and Betty Remeta. She was raised in the Traverse City/Buckley area. Carol spent the last 20 years of her life peacefully residing in Rapid City, MI. Carol is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Betty (Scott) Yokeum; grandchildren Christina, Gregory, Scott Jr., and Zachary; and her best friend Merlin. She is also survived by her cousin Connie Lindsay; Aunt Barb Kleeman; and many others aunts; and cousins. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Betty Remeta; her brothers Daniel, Gregory, Jeffrey, and Thomas; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her soulmate and love of her life David P. Schettig, her beloved pets Chuck, Cocoa, and her grandpup Sarge, all of whom she dearly missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
