Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carole Osborne Cole, passed through the veil of mortality the morning of November 19, 2022, at her home in Syracuse, Utah. Carole lived in Davis County, Utah for the past 44 years, where she pursued a variety of interests as a mother, author, and genealogist.

Carole was born November 22, 1936, in Long Branch, New Jersey to Carroll Abram Osborne and Dorothy Lazzo Nickolas. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Norman J. “Jim” Cole, her children, Lori E. Kunz, Matthew J. Cole (Julia), Martin J. Cole, and Julie C. Hansen (Richard L. “Chip” Hord), all of whom live along the Wasatch Front. She was also survived by her half-brother, Michael Loucks of Virginia, and her half-sister, Mary Hayes of Massachusetts. Carole was loved by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Pete Nickolas, her brother, Joel Addison Osborne, and a grandson, John McKay Kunz.

Jim and Carole were married in San Lorenzo, California on July 21, 1961. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on April 16, 1976, when they were also sealed to their four beloved children.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carole served as a Stake Relief Society President while she lived in Montana and gospel doctrine instructor, which was her favorite calling, on four different occasions. She also served with her husband as a missionary in the Indiana Indianapolis Mission, as well as the Legacy Park Stake in Syracuse, Utah.

She was an avid genealogist and was the editor of the Monmouth Connection, the newsletter of the Monmouth County (NJ) Genealogy Society at the time of her death. She published several books and was an avid reader throughout her life. Carole had a wide array of interests including, sewing, knitting, directing theatre productions, as well as fishing, backpacking, and cross-country skiing in her younger days.

But most of all, Carole loved her family, and her favorite time was the holiday season when all her clan would gather.
