Cremation Society of New Hampshire - ManchesterCarole Ann Garfield (Dutton), 83, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, surrounded by some of her family.
Born in Boston on February 17, 1943, to George Dutton Sr. and Mary Maher Dutton, Carole graduated from Central High School in 1960. Her life carried her from Lynn, MA, Manchester, NH, Iowa, Wallkill, NY, Wilbraham, MA, and finally back to Manchester, NH. She worked for Dutton and Garfield, Inc. and eventually the U.S. Post Office as a rural carrier.
She is survived by daughter Lisa Polcha and her husband Steve of Loxahatchee, FL; Caryn Garfield-Schroll and her husband Rich Schroll of Merrimack, NH and son Mathew Lewis of Nottingham, PA; grandchildren Melissa, Kristen, Daniel, Joseph, Kali, great granddaughter Emma; brother Jeffrey Dutton and wife Tina of Manchester, NH, sister-in-law Gisele Dutton, and many extended family and friends.
Carole was pre-deceased by her brothers George Dutton Jr., Robert Dutton, and Francis Dutton.
She was a passionate and lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, rarely missing a game and always cheering for her favorite teams. Carole loved her country music and displayed a patriotic behavior to be respected.
She loved gardening, tending indoor plants, watching her family play sports, sing in chorus, and perform in plays and dance. She loved to play dice and read a good book while resting at Lake Winnipesaukee.
She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She lead her life with others in mind first, giving more than she took, always leading with love.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 11th, at 9:00am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Rd. in Merrimack, NH.
