Carole Ann Heinricy, 75, of Colman, SD, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Colman, SD. Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service and rosary beginning at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 also at St. Peter Catholic Church in Colman.

Carole was born on March 1, 1950 in Sioux Falls, SD, to Lee and Maxine Arshem.

Carole graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD, in 1968. She continued her education at Dakota State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education in 1971, and later completed her Master’s degree in Physical Education at Western Kentucky University in 1972.

On August 16, 1972, Carole married Robert (Bob) Heinricy. They shared 53 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, dedication, and family. They lived in Sioux Falls for the first five years of their marriage before making their home in Colman, SD, in 1977.

Carole devoted many years to raising their four children, choosing to stay home until their youngest entered kindergarten. She later returned to the workforce, working at Eaton Technology, then at May & Scofield until 2002, and finally at Biogenetics Services until her retirement. She taught religious education for more than 25 years at St. Peter Catholic Church and served as a substitute teacher in Colman.

Growing up, Carole loved spending the summer on Lake Madison boating and skiing, a love she joyfully passed on to her children. She cherished time with her grandchildren, loved watching them, and delighted in spoiling them whenever she could.

Above all else, Carole’s greatest joy was her family. The love she shared with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was the most important part of her life.

Carole is survived by her husband, Bob Heinricy; children, Matthew (Julie) Heinricy of Colman, SD, Stacy (Heath) Johnson of Aberdeen, SD, Melissa (Jonathan) Kahler of Brookings, SD, and Christopher (Gena) Heinricy of Colman, SD; grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Hendricks, Brookings, SD, Korisa (Jim) Haak, Howard, SD, Palmer Johnson, Linus Johnson, Louise Johnson, Jonathan Kahler, Natalie Kahler, Lucas Kahler, Addison Kahler, Charlotte Kahler, Elizabeth Kahler, Victoria Kahler, Nora Heinricy, and Axel Heinricy; five great-grandchildren Cassaundra Albee, Olivia Albee, Jenika Haak, Jesse Haak and Kinsley Haak; her siblings, Terry (Marina) Arshem, Jackie (Dennis) Ingalls, and John (Mary) Arshem, all of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Maxine Arshem and great grandson, Jed James Haak.

Carole will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her strength, and the loud love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the generations she cherished.

Burial will take place at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Colman, SD.
