Carolee Seymour was born in 1944, her father, serving in World War II, was away the first year of her life, typical of the times. As she grew, Carolee loved horseback riding and spent many summers with the Junior Foundation sailing. Women were newly expected to work outside the home and work she did. She began at her father's law office of Seymour & Seymour. With Carolee's extraordinary eye for detail, she was invaluable as a secretary – working in such diverse fields as a construction, engineering and other law offices over the course of her life.
She lived on the west coast, east coast and points in between, but her deepest love was for Texas, with its cowboy culture. She obtained her commercial pilot's license becoming the fourth generation of pilots in her family. She obtained her conceal and carry pistol license and enjoyed target practice. Carolee went back to college and obtained her bachelor's degree with highest honors in anthropology at the age of 69 and took great pride in participating in the Fort St. Joseph Archeology Dig project. Her personal collections include rocks, stamps and she was an avid reader of books.
Carolee was a tender heart when it came to animals. She was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph River Yacht Club (SJRYC) and a champion at Euchre. Her mind was concrete and sequential.
Memorials can be made to the St. Joseph Junior Sailing Foundation or to an animal shelter of your choice. A celebration of life service has yet to be determined.
She is survived by her brother, Frederick John (Rick) Seymour, sisters: Candace Elizabeth (Bob) Myers, Anne Marie Odden (nephew Jonathan and niece Jacalyn), Lisa Caroline (Jim Willard) Morrison and Tom Filstrup. Carolee was predeceased by her parents Caroline Marie (Stolpe) and Dale Alpha Seymour, her beloved stepsister Christine (Filstrup) Wyngarden and former Air Force veteran Don Secrist.
