Caroline Bishop of Tamarac, FL, originally from Eastport, NY, was called home to the Lord on Friday, October 25. A devout Catholic who was fiercely proud of her Polish roots, she loved her family above all. She was a caring and loving mother to her two sons, Jeff and Johnny, beloved aunt of Chrissie, and proud grandmother to John Robert, Katie and Kelly.
The time spent with her grandchildren were some of the happiest moments of her life. She was a confidant who always listened and never judged. Carol loved to hear from everyone in the family, and whenever something happened in their lives, their first instinct was to call her and share the news. Put all the mother-in-law jokes aside, because she loved her daughters-in-law Tara and Chris as if they were her own. The feeling was mutual.
Carol prayed for everyone she knew and even those she didn’t every single day. She always got to mass early so she would have time to pray the rosary before services started, and her belief in the power of prayer was unshakeable. In her purse she often carried multiple sets of rosary beads, just in case someone else needed one. She was generous, loving, caring and kind.
She loved music and art and was an accomplished painter. Some of her greatest works are beach landscapes of her beloved Long Island. She loved to play the piano and her favorite song was quite fittingly, Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” Every time we hear that iconic “so good, so good, so good,” we will know Mom is with us.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, Louis, her brother, Carl Woronka, and her sister, Kathy Komistra. She is survived by her sons Jeff (Chris) and John (Tara), niece Chrissie Woronka, and grandchildren John Robert, Katie, and Kelly. The family will gather to pray the rosary on Friday evening, November 1, at 6:00 pm at the Moloney-Sinnicksons Funeral Home in Center Moriches. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:15 am on Saturday, November 2, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, also in Center Moriches, NY, followed by interment in the family plot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s memory to Save the Children’s HEART program which promotes Healing and Education Through the Arts. www.savethechildren.org/HEART
