Carolyn S. Bloomer

Carolyn S. Bloomer, 82, passed away August 11, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Iles Westover Chapel. A vigil service will begin at 7:30pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Friday, August 15, 2025, at Iles Westover Chapel. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.
Carolyn was born January 28, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa to Robert and Susanna (Feehan) Hines. She graduated from Albia High School in 1961. On July 18, 1964, she was united in marriage to Richard Weaver at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. They made their home in the Des Moines area where they raised their three children, Patricia, David and JoAnn. The family belonged to Holy Trinity Catholic Church in the Beaverdale area.
Carolyn was a homemaker and did occasional part-time work in data entry and conducting surveys, where she met her lifelong best friend, Mary Cox. She always enjoyed interacting with others.
Carolyn loved to bake, especially cookies and cakes, attending her children and grandchildren's activities, playing cards, listening to rock n roll and dancing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Her faith was very important to her and in her later years became a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Patricia "Patty" Wright, David (Amy) Weaver and JoAnn Weaver; bonus daughter, Sondra Southerland; three grandchildren, James Weaver, Sarah Weaver and Joshua Weaver; great grandchildren, Alliyah, Jinah, Ivy and Vince; brother-in-law, Jim (Jeanie) Weaver and her best friend, Mary Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Donald (Loretta) Hines and Rita (Art) McGrath; husband, Richard and son-in-law, David Wright, whom she loved like a son.
