Carolyn Camelio (DeMarco), 86, of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024 with her family by her side.
Carolyn, born March 5, 1938 in Somerville, is the daughter of the late Salvatore and Angelina Camelio. She is the third of five children: AnnMarie Dell'Anno, the late Augustus Camelio, Dennis Camelio and Corinne Hickey. She is survived by two sons, their spouses and five grandchildren. Son Steven DeMarco, his wife Elizabeth, and three children: Nicole, John and Joseph, of Reading, and son David DeMarco, his wife Sharon, and two children: Anthony and Isabella, of Belmont. Carolyn is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carolyn grew up on Harding Street in Cambridge for the first 16 years of her life. Her family then moved to Belmont, where she graduated high school in 1955. She attended Fisher College and graduated in 1957 at 19 years old. She was a member of the first class to receive an associates degree in Business Studies. Right out of college, Carolyn worked for the Massachusetts Industrial Accident Board as a Legal Secretary. She left that position to help her brother, Augustus, establish his law firm. She served as his Executive Assistant and Legal Secretary. During her time working for him, she created a records keeping and filing management system that was used throughout the years of his law practice. Carolyn was also a notary public.
She married the late Walter DeMarco at St. Jerome's Church in Arlington, in April 1958. They met at a local dance and were married for 20 years. Carolyn loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She was a devoted Catholic and relied heavily on her faith in God.
A visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Church at 130 Common Street in Belmont on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 10-11AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11AM. Internment Belmont Cemetery. All relatives and friends are welcome.
