In Loving Memory of Carolyn Ann Cowling (1946–2025) North Richland Hills, Texas
Carolyn Ann Cowling, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 29, 1946, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, Carolyn spent her formative years in Haltom City, where she graduated from Haltom High School. She went on to earn both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, reflecting her lifelong commitment to learning and service.
In 1965, Carolyn married the love of her life, James David “Mickey” Cowling. Together they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and family. Carolyn was the proud mother of three children—Barry, Stacy, and Kelly—and the adoring grandmother of three: David, Emily, and Abby.
Carolyn dedicated her professional life to helping others, retiring as a respected social worker from Cook Children's Hospital. Her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering support touched countless lives—both within her family and throughout the community she served.
She was known for her determination, a trait that carried her through life’s challenges and inspired those around her. Whether advocating for her patients, supporting her loved ones, or pursuing her goals, Carolyn met every moment with strength and grace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Mickey” Cowling, and her cherished daughter, Kelly Cowling. Carolyn is survived by her devoted son Barry Cowling, and her loving daughter Stacy Crouse and husband Daniel. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: David Crouse and wife Monique, Emily Crouse, and Abby Weed and husband Jacob. She is also survived by her brothers Larry Davis and wife Paulette, and Mike Davis and wife Deana, along with many dear family members and friends who will carry her memory forward.
Funeral Service A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas. A graveside service will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas.
