Carolyn Slack Daughtrey GREENVILLE - Mrs. Carolyn Slack Daughtrey, 92, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, after a brief illness. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, October 25th at 11AM at St. James United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00AM at the church. A private family interment will occur at a later date. A native of Beaufort County, Mrs. Daughtrey attended East Carolina Teachers College where she received a degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught school in Asheboro, North Carolina, and Cleveland & Freemont, Ohio. After moving to Greenville, she focused on raising her family. Mrs. Daughtrey was a lifetime member of Greenville Garden Club, and was an avid gardener. She loved her rose garden. She was also a long-time member of St. James UMC and was very involved with several groups within the church. Most importantly, she was loved by all those who knew her. Mrs. Daughtrey was preceded in death by her husband Lyman C. Daughtrey, Jr.; siblings, Gilbert Slack, Howard Slack, Francis Slack, and James Slack; and daughter-in-law, Amy F. Daughtrey. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy D. Ledbetter of Raleigh; sons, Mark M. Daughtrey of Raleigh, and C. Scott Daughtrey & wife, Kyle Sandy of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah, Matt, Patrick, Garrett, and Emma; great-grandchildren, Edwin, Noah, Katie, Monroe, Parker, Madison, Peyton, and Oliver.
