Carolyn Epperhart Obituary
Born January 26, 1949, in Sandy Hook, she was the daughter of Alva Brickey Ison of Sandy Hook and the late William "Willie" Ison.
Sue is survived by her devoted husband, James "Jim" Epperhart; two children, Matthew "Matt" Epperhart and Melissa Stewart, both of Morehead; three grandchildren, Chris Adkins, Jared Stewart, and Amber Stewart; and three great-grandchildren, John Adams, Ezra Stewart, and Jonah Stewart.
She is also survived by one sister, Betty Ruth Adkins; two brothers, William Junior Ison (Gloria) and Larry Dale Ison (Patricia), all of Sandy Hook; and a number of special nieces and nephews, including Heather Easterling, Sarah Purdy Watts, Jessica Purdy Gilliam, Caitlyn Easterling Neltner, Abby Easterling, Angela Campbell, Caden Easterling, Josh Ison, Adam Ison, Jason Ison, Jacob Ison, and Brian Adkins, along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends. Also to cherish Sue's memory are Jim's siblings, Toni (James) Easterling of West Liberty, Maureen (Scott) Easterling of Winchester, and Danny (Becky) Purdy of Morehead.
A 1965 graduate of Sandy Hook High School, Sue went on to earn her nursing degree from Morehead State University. She was a dedicated nurse and retired in 2010 from St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. In 2009, Sue was honored as Nurse of the Year.
She attended First Freewill Baptist Church. Sue loved flower gardening, vacationing at the beach, boating at Cave Run Lake, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joey Damron and Larry Dale Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Chris Adkins, Jared Stewart, Jacob Ison, Josh Ison, Jason Ison, and Amber Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Carter, Larry Porter, American Legion Post 126 and 798 Local Union members.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
