Funeral Services for Carolyn Sue Cumpton Garland, 88, of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 18, 2023, at the Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with Bro. Skip Dean officiating. Interment will follow in Start Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M., Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
Carolyn Sue Cumpton Garland passed away on December 15, 2023. Born on November 8, 1935, in Start, LA, Carolyn led a life filled with kindness, love, humor, and warmth.
Carolyn's journey as a bookkeeper was not just a career but a passion that she pursued with dedication and skill. Her meticulous attention to detail and her innate ability to keep things organized made her an invaluable asset to the companies she worked for. Carolyn's commitment to her work was unwavering and she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues along the way.
While Carolyn's professional achievements were significant, it is her personal qualities that truly defined her. Known for her kind heart and loving nature, Carolyn had an incredible ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed and loved. Her genuine interest in others, coupled with her warm sense of humor, created an atmosphere of joy wherever she went. Carolyn had a knack for bringing smiles to people's faces and brightening up their day.
Carolyn was voted the "most beautiful" girl in high school. This recognition served as a reflection of not just her outer beauty but also the inner radiance that illuminated every aspect of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert W. Cumpton and Willie Mae Griffin Cumpton; her brother, Robert W. Cumpton; and sister, Audrey Elaine Cumpton.
Carolyn leaves behind a cherished legacy in the hearts of her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Dennis Raye Garland and Ivy Richard Garland and his wife, Gloria H. Garland; daughters, Brenda Carol Garland and Melanie Elaine McLemore and her husband, Larry McLemore; granddaughter, Denise Renee Garland Maxwell; grandson, Michael Jason Rivoire; granddaughter, Niki Marie Rivoire; grandson, Richard Grayson Garland; step-grandsons, Heath Allen McLemore and Larry Wade McLemore; as well as 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The lives touched by Carolyn's presence will forever be enriched by her love, wisdom, and compassion. Her memory will shine brightly in the hearts of all those who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Michael Jason Rivoire, John Michael Rivoire, Heath Allen McLemore, Heath Allen “Mac” McLemore, Jr., Larry Wade McLemore, Jr., and Hunter Grayson McLemore.
