Carolyn Jane Goodman, a cherished matriarch, peacefully passed away on January 27, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on May 17, 1933,’s journey was one enriched with love, family, and a passionate commitment to her community.
As a devoted member of Straightway Baptist Church in Bryant, Alabama, Carolyn exemplified faith and generosity throughout her many years of life. Her unwavering commitment to her church family was only rivaled by her deep devotion to her own family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her greatest joy came from her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored deeply. Furthermore, Carolyn proudly served as a member of The Order of The Eastern Star for 70 years, showcasing her steadfast dedication to the values of charity, truth, and loving kindness.
Carolyn is survived by her sons, Steve (Sandra) Goodman and Mark (Diane) Goodman, along with her daughter, Linda Goodman. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love through her grandchildren: Leslie Goodman, Eric Goodman, Anna (Ethan) Dobbins, Zechariah Clark, Rachael Goodman, and Emilee (Josh) Rader. Carolyn will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Mason Goodman, Sonny Goodman, Jaxx Clark, Arianna Rosales, and Athena Whitmore.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Opal Swisshelm McCarty, her husband, Gary "Sonny" Goodman, her brothers, Lowell and Ronald McCarty, and her grandson, Tyler Barnum. Their cherished memories will continue to warm the hearts of those who loved them.
The family will welcome friends on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM, both at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Brent Smith will officiate the service and the Order of The Eastern Star North Sand Mountain # 544 will also render ceremonial rites.
Carolyn Goodman’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her unwavering love and the light she brought into the lives of her family and friends.
