Carolyn Hamilton Obituary

Carolyn Hamilton
AIKEN - Mrs. Carolyn Patricia Spradley Hamilton, 68, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Carolyn was a lifelong resident of Aiken, daughter of the late Frank Tony and Blondell Rish Spradley.
Carolyn was the youngest of four siblings, the long-awaited baby girl of three older brothers. After graduating from the University of South Carolina Aiken with a Bachelor's in Education, she began her teaching career at Vaucluse Elementary. After over 30 years of teaching, she retired from Byrd Elementary. She had a passion for teaching and loving her students. Carolyn loved Jesus with an unwavering trust through her many battles with a rare form of cancer for 23 years, that took much from her including her sense of smell. Carolyn was a fighter and fought a long hard battle to be with her loved ones here on Earth. During her life she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. She enjoyed family history, sitting with family talking about all of the good times. She loved to crochet and listen to music on long rides in the countryside holding her loving husband's hand. Carolyn is now fully healed with her Lord and Savior and able to smell the flowers she loved so much. She is reunited with so many of those who have gone before her. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband, Edward Russell Hamilton; daughter, Rebecca Leanna (Christian) Judy, Aiken; sons, Adam Edward Hamilton, Aiken, and Edward Russell (Allyson) Hamilton, Jr., Aiken; grandchildren, Ellen Paisley Judy, Emelia Charis Judy, Elijah Hamilton Judy, and Henry Russell Hamilton; brothers, Frank Tony Spradley, Jr., Aiken, Cyrus Spradley, Aiken, and Jerry Spradley, Aiken.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, June 6, 2025, in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Paul Hamilton and Phillip Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), or to the Shriners Children's Hospital (www.shrinerschildrens.org).
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, June 5, 2025, at SHELLHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 924 HAYNE AVE., AIKEN, SC

She was one of my favorite 5th grade teacher. She taught me so much. She believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself. She will be greatly missed.

I was on Dr Anthony Harris´s staff and got to know Carolyn. She was a patient and was in the office frequently. We always enjoyed her friendly attitude and she brightened our days with her smiles and conversations. She was always supported by her husband, Russell, whom we also got to know as a result of her being one of our patients. She will be missed. My prayers are with Russell and family.

Ms. Hamilton was my 5th grade teacher many moons ago at Byrd Elementary. She was probably the first teacher to ever really see me. She took my boredom with school and gave me purpose in the classroom and throughout the school. I remember her being funny with a touch of sarcasm, her smile looking over glasses slightly, and her tough but fair attitude coupled with patience. My thoughts and heartfelt thanks to her family for lending her to so many students year after year.
