Carolyn Kay Horne, 85, died April 12, 2025, surrounded by her family at her home in Hutchinson. She was born September 18, 1939, in Hutchinson, to Kenneth Vernon and Joyce Elaine (Wilson) Hoots.
Carolyn attended Hutchinson High School. In high school, she was a ticket-taker at the local Fox Theatre. Carolyn loved crafting, she spent time working on diamond art, Bunka (Japanese embroidery) and adult coloring books. While living in Colorado Springs, CO, she taught ceramic classes. Carolyn enjoyed working on word finds and participating in her book club.
On February 22, 1962, she married Donald Ray "Don" Horne, in Bethany, OK. Together they shared over 55 years of marriage, prior to his death on November 28, 2017.
Carolyn is survived by: her children, Rhonda Horne, Denise Horne, David Horne, all of Hutchinson, Micheal (Nadene) Horne of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Sharie (Tom) Dane of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Dennis (Melinda) Hoots of Denver, CO; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Don; grandsons, Jason Horne and Brian Horne.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary, with Reverend Cindy Dubovich officiating. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Although we didn't have the pleasure of knowing Carolyn we have been told what a gentle, nice person she was. Her son Michael is married to our daughter Nadene. Our sincere condolences and love go out the the family and send much love to her family. Wishing you peace and comfort during this unimaginable time.
