Carolyn LaBarge, 89, died at her home on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 Friday morning, September 5, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Prairieburg. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11.00 at the church. Fr. Sean Smith will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa has taken Carolyn and her family into their care. In lieu of flowers please make your memorial to your favorite charity.

Surviving are 2 sons, Michael and Dennis (Lisa) 2 grandsons, Jeff (Macy) and Curtis. She was preceded by her parents, stepfather, Daniel Fogarty, her husband LaVern, and 2 brothers, Eugene and Daniel.

Carolyn Susanne Van Alst was born February 5, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Alva and Velma Goyer VanAlst. She graduated from the Central City High School in 1954 where she lettered in basketball. Right out of high school she attended beauty school in Cedar Rapids. She married LaVerne LaBarge on April 10, 1956 the couple were married for over 60 years when Laverne died in 2020.

Carolyn not only styled hair, she worked as a cook in the Anamosa school system, she was a secretary at the Iowa Men's Reformatory and secretary at the Area Substance Abuse Council. She enjoyed watching her children's and grandchildren's school activities, reading, baking and word puzzles.
