Carolyn Pruitt Obituary
Carolyn JoAnn Pruitt passed away June 8, 2025 surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.
She was born October 11, 1945, in Ranger, Tx to Roger Q Wilson and Hannis Wilson. She moved to Abilene with her family as a young girl and graduated from Hendrick School of Nursing in 1976. She felt that this was the greatest accomplishment of her life. JoAnn worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at several facilities in Abilene, and was employed at the Austin State Supported Living facility for almost 20 years. She continued to work part-time up until her cancer diagnosis.
JoAnn is survived by her children Sonja Christine Tashman of Abilene, Tx, Hannis Renee Harbison of Cedar Park,Tx, and Tommy Lee Pruitt of Abilene, Tx. Her brother Roger Q Wilson, Jr of Wichita Falls, Tx, and JuanitaGaynell Meissner of Abilene, Tx. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Roger and Hannis Wilson, her brothers Samuel, Jimmy, Terry and John, and Rufus.
Graveside services will be held Thursday June 12, 2025 at Hawley Cemetery at 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life afterwards at Ft. Phantom Baptist Church.
