Mrs. Carolyn Lee Herring Screws, 38, of Swainsboro passed away Friday, January 23, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Walterboro, SC on February 8, 1987, to Daniel George Herring and Angela Shaw Young. She was preceded in death by her father.Carolyn Lee Herring Screws, had a spirit and life about her that was fierce, and full of love.
She was like a wild stallion that wouldn't stay tame for too long, always making an impact on those around her, even if her outlaw spirit set her free from time to time. Her energy gave you no choice but to love her and want her near. She loved and lived, hard and full, never left you wondering where you stood in her heart or mind. She was born in Walterboro, SC on February 8, 1987. Second daughter, 2 years apart from the first daughter, Mallory, by only one day. Her parents were Daniel (Dan) & Angela (Angie) Herring, two cool parents making their way with hard work and true love. By way of South Carolina, she made her way to Swainsboro, GA with her family at the age of 4, where she would live and build her life, close to family and her roots. She grew up on country dirt roads with wide skies, exploring outside with bare feet and a free spirit. She was 10 years older than the baby sister, Danielle, and always took on a mothering/ best friend role in her life. Sisterhood filled with sister rivalry, laughs, love and trio-sister singing curated by Carolyn every chance she had. Carolyn being the middle sister of 3 sisters, she was the glue that kept the family together throughout her life. Carolyn was nicknamed Carrie, which is what family called her, unless she was being scolded, then it was Carolyn Lee. She was a bit mischievous in her youth, but it was always led by good intentions, curiosity, and the path to find herself. She was the life of the party, the perfect example of love, and your worst enemy if you crossed her or her family the wrong way. She was a beauty, that made friends wherever she went with big brown eyes and a smile that would light a room. Carolyn was one of the lucky ones that knew exactly who she was at all times. Her confidence and stubbornness guided her path, and she stood strong through every challenge and appreciated every victory. As a woman, she kept her youthful essence and always had a smile or a laugh to share with you. She also shared a very special closeness with her grandmother, Rosa, throughout her life, their friendship was always a pillar of strength for her. You were guaranteed to have a good time if she was around. Always had an ear, shoulder, or dollar for you if needed as well. Carolyn accomplished many things in her life. She followed her dream of cosmetology and developed a very successful business built by her own two hands. She became a mother at the age of 23, her pride and joy, Henslee Rachel. She always made sure that her daughter was provided for and protected. Carolyn departed from this world on January 23, 2026, at the age of 38. A shining star that was taken from our sight too young for our hearts to bear. But her spirit lives on through her family and friends, that will always do their best to honor her memory and wishes. She was blessed to carry many titles, a daughter, granddaughter, mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and even step-grandmother within her life. We celebrate the life of Carolyn Lee Herring Screws, she will be dearly missed, and everyone that was lucky enough to know her will have memories to cherish with a smile to accompany them.
