Mr. Don Melton Kittrell, 79, formerly of Kite passed away at Piedmont Henry in Stockbridge, GA on February 26, 2026. He was born in Kite on June 14, 1946.
He is preceded in death by mother, Blanche Moates Kittrell; wife, Eula Rowland Kittrell; brother, Joe Kittrell; sisters, Willette Price, Caroline Beasley.
Don Kittrell loved his family, his country, and his God fiercely. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was an active duty soldier in the Army for four years and then served in the Army National Guard for over twenty years. As a devout Christian, he taught Sunday School, led multiple church youth groups, and facilitated a weekly prayer breakfast.
Don worked for 30 years at Robins Air Force Base. After his retirement, he and Eula moved to Kite, Georgia. Don believed strongly in being an active part of the community in which he lived; he brought his community commitment to his work for the city of Kite where he served as mayor from 2014-2018. He worked to increase road safety and to improve the water tower. He wrote grants to support changing the water tower and adding road safety equipment.
Don was an active supporter of The Lighthouse Outreach Ministries. He believed strongly in their mission of serving the community and in taking care of their neighbors. He saw that kind of community love and support as living a Christlike life.
He is survived by his children and their families: Melanie (David) Hundley, Danielle (Bill) Podrazik, and Kenneth (Lacey) Kittrell; grandchildren, Carter Malcom, Kadence Kittrell, Kallen Kittrell, Kassidy Kittrell; brother, Randy Kittrell; and other family members and friends.
Services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at Kite First Baptist Church with Reverend Burton Dixon officiating. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow in the Kite City Cemetery with military honors
Pallbearers will be T.J. Smith, Kevin Drew, and Kraig Conkle.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The Lighthouse Outreach Center, PO Box 65, Kite Ga 31049.
