Carolyn Faye Thames, age 73, passed away in Laurel, Maryland on October 19, 2025.
Carolyn was born on February 26, 1952, in Virginia, to Ruby and Lawrence Thames. Growing up, she enjoyed spending time on her grandparents’ farm. She worked for many years as a mail clerk supervisor with the United States Postal Service alongside her companion Jeffrey Crawford. Carolyn was a Breast Cancer survivor who adored spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and dog, Toby. She enjoyed going to the beach, watching cooking shows, doing yard work, and watching YouTube on her tablet. She would always share the last bite of her creamsicle ice cream with her beloved Toby. Carolyn will be fondly remembered for her love of the color purple and butterflies.
Carolyn is survived by her companion of 36 years Jeffrey Lee Crawford; children Steven Thames Sr (Stefanie), Taunya Churn (Danny), Lauren Paolini (Scot), and Chrissy Fitzwater (Jon); grandchildren David Byers, Sara Churn, Steven Thames Jr, Kylie Smith, JR Churn III, Cheyenne Fitzwater, Haley Brown, James Sell, and Melissa Sell; great grandchild Khyrie Smith; Sister Priscilla “Sis” Bauman (Bob) and Brother Bobby Thames (Carol); and her nieces and nephews Timothy, Tommy, Brae, Michael, Missy, Shannon, DJ, Kristen, Cody, and Clarissa. She was preceded in death by her brother Larry Wayne Thames and sister Michelle Shook.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. Chapel located at 313 Talbott Avenue in Laurel, Maryland 20707. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the visitation from 10:00am to 12:00pm and funeral service at 12:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens located at 900 West Central Ave in Davidsonville, Maryland 21035.
